Jericho in the Valley, 2006: July 8 - 15, 2006
McKRBC Assigned Church: Trinity Baptist Church -- Lebanon, Oregon
What is Jericho?:
Oregonians love our state! We love the soil and the many things it produces. The Willamette Valley is called the World Capital of Grass Seed! And, we produce filberts (also called hazelnuts) as well as many fruits and grapes. Vineyards dot the countryside.
The fact is that with all of this beauty around us, still few recognize God as creator. As few as 5% of the population indicate they have a vital relationship with Jesus Christ as a personal savior. They are good people, intelligent people, and very lost people.
Jericho in the Valley project is an intensive evangelistic effort to take the Gospel to communities in the Willamette Valley of Oregon by breaking down barriers. We need volunteers from the Willamette Valley Baptist Association , (WVBA), the Northwest Baptist Convention , as well as, across the United States. We believe 500 volunteers in 2-person teams, are able to present the Gospel at the doorstep of 75,000 homes during the weeklong event. More teams, more homes.
Each church will determine how best to reach out to their community. This may include:
- Neighborhood Prayer Walking
- Children's Bible Clubs
- Outreach Vacation Bible Schools
- Intentional Acts of Kindness
- Sports Clinics
- Evangelistic Block Parties
- Religious Opinion Polls
When is the time frame?:
The intensive week when we need volunteers is July 8 - 14, 2006. We suggest that WVBA churches use July 16 as a Day of Celebration. You may wish to stay for this.
What happens on July 8?
There will be a dinner and orientation on Saturday, July 8. We suggest that you arrive by 3 p.m., get your assignment for the events for the week, then have dinner with us. We ask that you attend orientation for all volunteers at 6 p.m.

Teams will attend Morning Worship with the local church where they are assigned. In the afternoon and early evening, there will be training and preparation. For some it may include prayer walking or distribution of flyers. The church where you are assigned may have specific plans or additional informational training for you.

Why the Willamette Valley?
The Willamette Valley is one of Oregon's best kept secrets! We have a wonderful climate to grow products and a great place to live.
There are over one million people living in the Valley. With many of Oregon's major universities and colleges located here, education is important. Yet, in this area, there are many who have never heard or understood the Gospel of Christ.
Many are open to talking about nearly any topic imaginable. At the same time, they may appear to be unreachable with the Gospel. The opposite is true. When you show your genuine concern for them and demonstrate a consistent life, you can share the why and who is important in your life.
We invite you to be part of the group of people making a positive impact upon the lives of people living in the Willamette Valley. We need your help.
