Jericho on the Coast: July 28 - August 5, 2001
The churches of the Coast Baptist Association invite you to participate in a saturation evangelism project in Lincoln County, Oregon between July 28 and August 5, 2001.
What will happen?:
A Jericho Task Force was formed November 2. Plans will be developed over the next months, but several commtments have already been made.
The Task Force has expressed a desire to take the Gospel to every household surrounding the six Coast Baptist Association churches. There are about 21,000 residential addresses in the target areas.
An equally strong commitment was made to under-gird Jericho on the Coast with prayer. Local church members are assuming the responsiblity for walking through and praying for every residential neighborhood in Lincoln City, Depoe Bay, Newport, Siletz, Toledo, Waldport and Yachatas.
Volunteers will assist prayer watchmen in ministering to the needs that have been discovered. We expect to engage in acts of kindness, Backyard Bible Clubs, sports clinics, block parties, and other appropriate activities in order to present the Gospel to as many people as possible.
CrossOver style activities will be used to take teams to every home. Religious Opinion Polls will be used to open doors for presenting the claims of Jesus Christ. Every effort will be made to bring residents of these communities to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ!
When is Jericho on the Coast?:
July 28 - August 5, 2001 is the target date for Jericho on the Coast. Volunteers will arrive on Saturday, July 28 for orientation. Teams will be assigned to local churches on Sunday, July 29. Intensive efforts will begin in the communities on Monday, July 30. Discipleship activities will begin on Saturday, August 4.
Who can participate?:
Youth groups, senior adult groups, all able-bodied volunteers. Appeals will be made through the North American Missions Board and throughout the Northwest Baptist Convention.
Volunteers do not have to stay for the entire nine day event. We strongly encourage groups to arrive in time for orientation.
What is the cost?:
Groups must expect to carry the bulk of the expenses for transportation and meals. Some housing will be available to volunteers. The target week is in the middle of the summer resort schedule.
What do I do now?:
You can begin praying right now that God will direct the Task Force for Jericho on the Coast.
Pray that members of Coast churches will accept the challenge to Prayer Walk the neighborhoods.
Pray for an adequate number of volunteers so we can take the Gospel to 21,000 homes the week of July 28 - August 5.
